Rafał Knop is a painter, passionate about antiquity and surrealism, who loves Tuscany. For several years, he has been dividing his time between Poland and Tuscany, where he organizes artistic painting open-airs for amateur and professional artists every year. The artist is a lover of jazz and classical music, a gourmet of wines and slow food. Work on the Swimming Pool oil paintings series began in the second half of 2017. This cycle was inspired by the style of the 1960s and 1970s, the atmosphere of Edward Hockney’s paintings from the L.A. Swimming Pool. Over 100 oil paintings have already been created in this series, the artist is constantly working on new works. One of the main themes of the artist’s works is the woman and the swimming pool. Knop seduces the viewer with sunny frames, moments captured by the pool, and the strongly emphasized perspective directs us to the horizon and defines the space. Rafał Knop in his works, often touching on minimalism, moves on the verge of realism and surrealism, trying to capture the moment, not being afraid of rubbing against kitsch, which makes the works a reflection of our times through and through.
Collections: His paintings are in private collections in Poland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy and the United States.
